The guy at the dealership said it would help me back up without hitting stuff, but he didn\u2019t explain much else about it. So what is ParkSense? Is it just my backup camera?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong> ParkSense is an alert and assistance system that helps you park safely. The way your ParkSense works will vary depending on whether your vehicle is equipped with Rear Park Assist or Active Park Assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what\u2019s-the-difference-between-rear-park-assist-and-active-park-assist\">What\u2019s the difference between Rear Park Assist and Active Park Assist?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ParkSense Rear Park Assist: <\/strong>This system uses sensors in the bumper to detect obstacles while you\u2019re reversing at less than 7 mph. If there\u2019s anything behind you, the system will beep and you\u2019ll see an indicator flashing on the driver\u2019s information screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ParkSense Active Park Assist:<\/strong> Active Park Assist is a semi-automatic driving assistance feature. When this feature is active, the system will control the steering to help you park safely. You still control the gas, brake, and gear shifter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-do-I-use-parksense-active-park-assist\">How do I use ParkSense Active Park Assist?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To use your vehicle\u2019s Active Park Assist feature:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press the ParkSense button\u2014it will have the letter P and a steering wheel on it and should be in the center stack of your car.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose either the \u201cParallel\u201d or \u201cPerpendicular\u201d option from the touchscreen menu, then press the OK button on the left side of your steering wheel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn on your left blinker if you\u2019ll be parking on the left, or the right blinker if you\u2019ll be parking on the right. (If you don\u2019t choose an option, the system will default to parking on the right side.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drive until the system beeps to signal that it\u2019s found an appropriate parking spot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take your hands off the wheel and follow the directions that appear on your driver information screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continue to control the vehicle with the gas and brake pedals as ParkAssist helps you park.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To exit a parallel parking spot, follow the same steps, but choose \u201cParallel Park Exit\u201d from the menu after pressing the ParkSense button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jerry-highlight-point-paragraph flex flex-row items-center gap-2.5 rounded-lg p-6 has-gray-pink-background-color has-background\"><span class=\"iconify i--shield-check text-primary rotate-0 text-base mt-0.5 shrink-0 self-start\"><\/span><div class=\"jerry-block-content flex-grow text-sm\">\n<p><strong>Need to know:<\/strong> Monitor the entire area surrounding your vehicle while you\u2019re using ParkSense. Apply the brakes if there\u2019s a person, car, or other obstruction in your path.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"can-i-add-parksense-active-park-assist-to-my-vehicle\">Can I add ParkSense Active Park Assist to my vehicle?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you drive certain Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram models, you may be able to visit a local authorized dealership to have ParkSense added to your vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll need to have the appropriate sensors and wiring installed, and you may also need to install a Bypass Device.
