Here\u2019s what you\u2019ll need to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Network compatible hardware and cellular connectivity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An active GPS signal from your vehicle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A VW ID, the myVW app, and a myVW account. Be sure that you have accepted the terms of service for myVW and, if applicable, Car-Net (a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northparkvw.com\/what-is-vw-car-net\/#:~:text=Volkswagen%20Car%2DNet%C2%AE%20helps,dealer%20to%20learn%20more%20today!\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">subscription-based program<\/a> for some VW models that includes services such as roadside assistance, satellite navigation, and more)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll also need to turn on data sharing. To do that, first make sure your car is online by going to your start screen and selecting \u201cOnline mode.\u201d Then, go back to the home screen and navigate to \u201cPrivate Settings\u201d &gt; \u201cVehicle\/Usage data.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that\u2019s all set up properly, you should receive a notice any time a software update is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"system-update\">How to install a Volkswagen system update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you get the notification that your Volkswagen system update is available, follow these steps to install it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Park somewhere with a stable internet connection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close all of your car windows and turn off the ignition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you drive an EV, ensure your battery is charged to at least 50% and remove the charging plug.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the initial screen, select &#8220;Update Available.\u201d Make sure that Online mode is activated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the System Update screen, you can select &#8220;More Information&#8221; to view the Release Notes \u2013 it\u2019s always a good idea to read these before installing the update.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press &#8220;Install.\u201d (If you\u2019re sent further information, click &#8220;OK&#8221; after reading.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get out and lock the vehicle to begin the installation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t open your car doors for at least two minutes after locking it. If you unlock the doors too soon, the installation will be canceled, and you\u2019ll have to start over.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that the infotainment display will indicate when the installation is complete.
