How much will I have to pay for a security deposit?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong> Security deposits for Turo car rental reservations vary depending on several factors, including age, the type of car being rented and other factors in the security process. It is also possible you won\u2019t need to pay a security deposit at all with your booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how Turo&#8217;s website breaks down the pricing for security deposits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$750 if you\u2019re under the age of 30 and book a Deluxe Class vehicle. Note that you must be 25 years old to book.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$750 for all guests who book Super Deluxe Class rentals. Note you must be 30 years old to book these types of vehicles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$500 for guests booking a vehicle in <a href=\"\/car-insurance\/new-york\/\" data-type=\"car-insurance\" data-id=\"56476\">New York<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$250 for vehicles booked in the San Fernando Valley area of <a href=\"\/car-insurance\/california\/los-angeles\/\" data-type=\"car-insurance\" data-id=\"24291\">Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$200 will be required as a deposit if the Turo security system selects your reservation for a deposit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re concerned about the amount of the security deposit on your rental reservation, you do have one option that can lower that amount. Turo will give you a $250 discount on your deposit if you submit your personal <a href=\"\/car-insurance\/\">auto insurance<\/a> information. However, you must do this when prompted at the time of booking. Turo cannot add your auto insurance policy information after the fact, so you must do it during the booking process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Security-deposit-refund\">Security deposit refund<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing your trip, you\u2019ll receive your security deposit back within 80 hours as long as certain criteria are met. Your security deposit refund depends on both of the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You or the host haven\u2019t reported any vehicle damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You don\u2019t have any unpaid eligible reimbursement invoices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Assuming you fulfill those two requirements, Turo will reimburse your security deposit. The time it takes to hit your credit card or bank account can vary depending on how your financial institution processes the refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Turo\u2019s-security-deposit-vs.-insurance-requirements\">Turo\u2019s security deposit vs. insurance requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep in mind that your security deposit is separate from the insurance requirements on Turo rentals. You don\u2019t actually need your own insurance to book a vehicle via Turo, because Turo offers protection plans for all guests. If you do have personal auto insurance, the Turo protection provides secondary (excess) coverage over your personal policy&#8217;s <a href=\"\/car-insurance\/liability-car-insurance\/\" data-type=\"car-insurance\" data-id=\"9859\">liability coverage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can select from four different types of plans:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Premier plan (65% of the trip price, minimum $14\/day)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Standard plan (40% of trip price, minimum $12\/day)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum plan (18% of trip prices over $250 or 25% of trip prices over $250, minimum $10\/day)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decline protection (not available on all rentals)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all options are available on all rentals. When in doubt, read the fine print of your car sharing agreement regarding deposits and insurance requirements to ensure you know what you\u2019re getting into.
